Two Tiverton police officers are being hailed as heroes for rescuing an elderly man from a burning home on Stafford Road Friday evening.
Crews were called to the home at 994 Stafford Road just after 7:15 p.m. Friday. When they got there, members of Engine 3 found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the house. As they worked to bring the fire under control, officers Devon Tate and Cameron Williams entered the smoke-filled home and brough out an elderly gentleman who requires the assistance of a walker. He was not injured, and no other injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation.
