Letter: I want wind power to work — but what if it doesn't?
Growing up I had many lively debates with my dad at the dinner table. He always told me that to be effective in communicating your position, you have to not only understand the other side, but be able to articulate their position. The question he insisted I reconcile was, "What if I am wrong?" It is frustrating, enlightening and humbling. I needed to think it through and avoid getting caught in the rabbit hole of confirmation bias.
I am an environmentalist. I want to protect the earth. I want to end our dependence on fossil fuels. I want my children and grandchildren (fingers crossed!) to inherit something better. I want wind power to work. I want to believe in it. But what if I am wrong?
