To the editor:
As we go forward with the Mayflower Wind project, I urge the Mayflower people to be as open with the public as possible.
Portsmouth residents have historically been sandbagged by a lack of credibility from the R.I. Department of Environmental Management, the R.I. Department of Transportation, the R.I. Bridge and Turnpike Authority, and the Rhode Island State Police to name a few state entities. For good measure, add in National Grid with their gas outage and subsequent coverup.
Dugan Becker’s letter to the editor (he represents Mayflower) is a good start. I urge Mayflower to hold open meetings to field questions from the public as this project goes along. Face-to-face meetings may initially be painful, but in the long run beneficial. Disclosure: I look forward to renewables.
