Little Compton race and fair is Saturday

Posted

The United Congregational Church of Little Compton will hold its annual Summer Fair and Road Race on this coming Saturday, July 9. It is the 61st Summer fair on the Commons and the 41st annual race.

The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with the return of the kids' race on the Wilbur McMahon school fields. The main Road Race follows at 9 a.m. — a flat 4.8-mile course running through scenic Little Compton. Registration for both races is online at tiny.cc/lcroadrace or on the church website, www.ucclittlecompton.org.

The street will be lined with craft and artisan vendors from 9 am. to 3 p.m. The White Elephant returns to the tent directly behind the church. There will also be a bake sale, jewelry and craft tables, and much more.

Starting at 10 a.m., children's games are back and include a rock climbing wall. The Toe Jam Puppet Band will perform at 1 p.m.  Also this year, the much-loved dog show, hosted by Placing Paws, will take place at noon at Pike's Peak.

Hungry? Little Compton's famous lobster lunch is back, and tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Plus, The Sausage Guy from Fenway, Wilhelmina's Catering, Pete's Ice Cream, and Del's Lemonade round out the food vendors with something for everyone.

Though the main fair is Saturday, the Silent Auction will open with a preview party on Friday, July 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. The auction is in person and online with 32 lots. Bidding closes Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. The Silent Auction room will be open for viewing the week after the Fair.

And don't forget that the Thursday Thrift Shop run by the church located just south of the Commons will be open from 10 am. to 3 p.m. on Fair Day.
