PORTSMOUTH — The fifth annual Portsmouth High School Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Green Valley Country Club, 371 Union St., Portsmouth.

There are 13 honorees for 2022, made up of former athletes, administrators, coaches and special contributors to the Portsmouth High School athletic program:

Athletes

• James Orcutt, Class of 1978 

• Scott Borden, Class of 1986 

• Tracy Garforth, Class of 1980 

• Mark Harrington, Class of 1972 

• Ralph Plumb III, Class of 2001 

• Jim Carroll, Class of 1987 

• Susan O’Bara, Class of 1992 

• Sue Cotta, Class of 1977

• Kate McCauley, Class of 1987

• Brooke Moody Humm, Class of 1993

Athlete, coach

• Mike Stinton, Class of 1968

• Administrator, athletic director, coach John F. Blaess, Class of 1972

The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 4:30 p.m. followed by the induction ceremony.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
