PORTSMOUTH — Roshana Webster led the Portsmouth High School gymnastics team to a second-place finish at a meet Saturday at Strive Gymnastics in Somerset.

The Patriots scored 126.5 points as a team, with Mt. Hope winning the meet with 133.55 points.

Webster placed second in the all-around with a total score of 32.65, including an 8.45 on vault, 8.05 on bars, 7.7 on the balance beam and 8.45 on the floor exercise.

Also competing in the all-around for Portsmouth were Kiley Wordell, who scored 31.45 (8.1 vault, 7.95 bars, 6.95 beam, 8.45 floor); Lexi Owen, 31.25 (8.45 vault, 7.65 bars, 6.95 beam, 8.2 floor); Kiara McLellan, 30.65 (8.2 vault, 7.35 bars, 7.15 beam, 7.95 floor); and Eileen Burnett, 26.85 (8.15 vault, 5.0 bars, 6.35 beam, 7.35 floor).

In individual events, Baily Davis scored an 8.05 on floor, a 7.3 on beam and a 7.0 on bars. Amarah Cambedo scored a 7.15 on vault and a 6.35 on floor, while Lucy Amand recorded a 7.0 on vault.

Portsmouth will next compete against Coventry and South Kingstown on Sunday, Jan. 25, at Dream Big Gymnastics in Cranston. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
