A Tiverton restaurant that posted a Facebook meme making light of Anne Frank in a post about the heat is being widely condemned and criticized online.
The meme, posted Friday by the Atlantic Sports Bar and Restaurant at 70 Shove St., has since been removed. Screen captures of it show a photograph of Frank, a young German-Dutch girl who hid in an attic for two years before being captured by the Nazis and later killed at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, with the caption: "It's hotter than an oven out there .... And I should know!"
It did not take long for Facebook viewers to notice the meme. It has been criticized widely since then. Nobody picked up the phone at the bar Monday morning.
