Someone stole the fork in the road.
Westport police are looking for the unknown thieves who made off with the fork that marked the split at River Road and Old Harbor, they said Wednesday. There was no immediate word from police on when the large, whimsical utensil first went missing.
The sculpture was created by Tom and Kate Schmitt in 2010, and they decorate it to celebrate various holidays. Most recently, a hot dog was forked for the Fourth of July.
If you have information on the theft, contact the station at 508-636-1122, or e-mail Officer Wenson at ptlwensond@westport-ma.gov.
