Hunter Brodeur scored 21 points and Max Morotti netted 18 as the Westport basketball team trampled Atlantis Charter School 64-43 in an away game on Wednesday night. The Wildcats have won three in a row for an overall record of 5-2 this season. Head coach Scot Boudria began the game with seniors Coltrane McGonigle and Nick DosVais with starters Brodeur, Morotti and Cam Leary against the upstart Tritons. Brodeur handling point guard duties, consistently sliced through the Atlantis Charter defense and scored at will in the first quarter as he racked up 13 of his 21 points. When the senior guard wasn’t scoring he was dishing it to Morotti who scored 12 of his 18 points by jumper or lay up as Westport raced out to a 25-11 early lead. Leary limped off the court after colliding with a Triton late in the quarter. tracking down a Tritons guard. Coach Boudria sent in Ben Boudria and his brother Ben soon followed replacing DosVais. In the second quarter, Ben Boudria, Brodeur and Morotti each scored 2 points, McGonigle sank a jumper and drained two of four free throws for 4 points and Owen Boudria heated up and scored 8 points as Westport increased the lead 43-14.
Westport crusied and led 52-32 after three quarters. Brodeur scored 4 points in the third quarter and 2 points in the fourth quarter. Ben Boudria drained a pair of 3-pointers, Morotti netted 4, Owen Boudria sank a jumper and hit one of three free throws for 3 points and McGonigle added 2 points.
