The Westport soccer team celebrated their seniors ahead of dominating Somerset Berkley 3-0 during their senior day game at the high school on sunny Friday afternoon. Jackson Chase, Tiago Branco and Miguel Ferreira scored for the Wildcats who improved to 12-2-3 on the season. Goalkeeper Johnny Gaboury earned his 10th shut out of the season.
Wildcats head coach Chris Parker spoke well of his seniors as they paraded onto the field with family members for photos before the game. In an unprecedented move back in 2021, he and the coaching staff decided to bring ten seventh graders on to the junior varsity team in order to rebuild the program.

"The eight seniors in front of you were the core of that seventh-grade group," he said. "During their six seasons, they have worked tirelessly to improve. They have embraced the 'Pitch Warrior Way' with a devotion to each other and taking pride in doing the little things well."

The seniors in their tenure have won five MAC titles with an overall record of 30-5-3 and have made the state tournament every season. The Wildcats won the Division 5 state championship in 2023, and have been to the final four and elite eight.

"They did a fantastic job of modeling hard work and grit for the younger players, which I believe will help ensure the program's continued success."
