Westport honors veterans in ceremony Friday

Westport will honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, including the approximately 900 veterans who call Westport home, during its annual Veterans Day Ceremony Friday at the Beech Grove Cemetery Veterans' Monument at 974 Main Road. It starts at 10 a.m.

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11, the anniversary of the end of World War I. It is a tribute to all the men and women who left their homes, families and friends to serve. This year, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 207 will host the ceremony. Jon Ramedis will serve as keynote speaker, and Geraldand Vivian Coutinho have been chosen to lay the wreath this year.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Westport Town Hall Annex gym at 856 Main Road. For more information, contact Carol Freitas, Westport Veterans’ Service Officer, at 508-636-1028, or send her an e-mail at freitasc@westport-ma.gov.

He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
