Westport soccer plays in the final four on Monday night

The juggernaut Westport soccer team will play Bromfield in the Division 4 Final Four at Victory Field in Watertown, MA on Monday at 7 p.m. The Wildcats came from behind to beat 19th seeded Gardner 2-1 in a Division-4 Elite-8 battle at home on Wednesday afternoon. The 6th seeded Wildcats with a record of 17-0-2 will face 2nd seeded Bromfield (15-1-2). It’s the third final-four appearance for Westport in the last five years. Their first time as a D-4 team. The Wildcats last won the D-5 state championship in 2023. 

Westport is atempting to host a spectator bus that will leave the school at 5 p.m. Contact the school to inquire or sign up via a Google form at the school's website.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
