On the morning of Friday, Feb. 25, Warren Police were advised by a passing motorist (who wished to remain anonymous) of a male on Main Street waiving an axe around. Officers checked the surrounding area and were unable to locate the male. However, the same male then entered the lobby of the Warren Police headquarters, at which time officers then responded to the lobby and made contact with the male, taking him into custody.

“Upon their making contact with the male, he was seated on the bench, along with the axe and a knife in his possession. Both items were immediately secured and a rescue was called for the same male for medical issues,” reported Lieutenant Christopher Perreault. “The male was not charged as a result of this incident.”

The same male, identified as Daryl Johnson, 50, of Warren, in the arrest logs provided by Warren PD, was released from the hospital later in the day, but was then arrested and charged at 6:21 p.m. that evening after violating a No Contact Order at another individual’s residence. He was charged with violating the order, domestic simple assault, and domestic disorderly conduct and later held as a bail violator.
