Report: Hugh Cole School "risk" unsubstantiated
Increased police presence in all district schools Friday
Warren police are investigating rumors relating to a potential risk at Hugh Cole School Friday morning. As of 10 a.m. Friday, that potential risk was deemed unsubstantiated, according to an alert sent out by the Bristol Warren Regional School District.
Deputy Warren Police Chief Roy Borges could not be reached to comment on the incident Friday morning; Capt. Brian Burke of the Bristol Police Department referred questions back to Warren, which he said was continuing to investigate.
The district’s alert read:
"Earlier this morning it came to our attention that there were rumors related to a potential risk to Hugh Cole School. The police from both Bristol and Warren have been notified and it has been determined that the rumors are unsubstantiated. There will be additional police presence in and around our schools for the remainder of the day."
