Helena Hyde finished second in the high jump and helped the Barrington High School girls indoor track team earn a seventh-place finish at the state track championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Hyde, a sophomore, cleared the bar at five feet, two inches and earned eight team points. Hyde followed up that performance with a strong showing in the long jump, as she finished seventh with a distance of 16 feet, 11 inches.
Barrington High School senior Sophia Ford finished one spot better in the long jump with a sixth place finish. In her final attempt, Ford set a new school record with a jump of 17 feet, 8.25 inches.
Jordan Roskiewicz clocked a personal best time in a prelim heat of the 55-meter hurdles at 8.92 seconds and then ran an 8.99 in the finals and finished fourth overall.
The Barrington High School 4x800-meter relay team of Indie Lamb, Maeve Kelly, Sophie Gardos and Sara Chang finished fourth with a time of 10:20.86.
Other Barrington student-athletes to compete in the state meet:
• Evelyn Lefort finished 11th in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:13.14.
• Carolyn Resnick won her heat in the 600-meter race and placed 12th overall.
• Kate Pearse ran to an 11th-place finish in the 300-meter race, crossing the line with a time of 44.24.
• Kitty Wang ran well in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing 12th overall.
• Lily Cregan (weight throw) and Maura Gravina (3,000-meter race) also competed at the state meet.
