Woman supplies sample to police for testing

A Barrington resident alleged that a coffee shop worker intentionally tainted her drink.

On Friday, June 7, the resident told police she had ordered a coffee at the Starbucks in town and that she had argued about her order with one of the employees.

The resident later took a sip of her drink and discovered that it did not taste right, police said. The resident said she took a second sip and it made her throat sore and gave her stomach pain, police said.

The resident said she believes the Starbucks employee intentionally placed a chemical cleaning tablet, normally used to clean the coffee machines, into her drink, Police said.

The resident provided police with a sample of the coffee and asked that it be tested. Police are investigating.
