The Barrington Senior Division Softball All Star team defeated Portsmouth 11-3 in the first game of the District 2 finals on Monday night, June 24.

Audrey Paxton pitched seven strong innings for Barrington, while catcher Erin Moran and shortstop Cora Floriani worked together to throw out three Portsmouth baserunners attempting to steal.

Barrington scored three runs in the first inning and three more in the second and led 6-0 after the first two frames. Grace Fontaine, Paxton and Morin had strong days at the plate, and Corinna Flores drove in a pair of runs and snagged a two-out liner to third to seal the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Barrington put the game away with five runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The two teams square off again in Portsmouth on Tuesday, June 25 in the best-of-three series.
