Barrington defeats Rumford 15-5

The Barrington Little League Ron Silva Tournament All Stars advanced to the finals with a 15-5 win over Rumford on Saturday, July 20. 

Wes Argo went 2-for-2 with a walk at the plate for Barrington, drove in a pair of runs and scored three times. Angelo Bruneau had three hits and scored three times, while Colin Fortin and Andre Thibeault had two hits, drove in one run and scored twice. Zac Possiel had one hit and scored a run. 

Rumford built a quick 2-0 lead following a Cal Connolly one-out single and a Kingston Deleon-Spitaleri's run-scoring double. Barrington, however. The hosts evened the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first then scored five runs in the bottom half of the second inning to take the lead. In the bottom of the second, Jackson Letvinchuk walked and Jackson Hay walked. Simon Kim walked to load the bases, and Fortin then delivered a bases-loaded single.

Barrington scored four more runs in the third inning to build an 11-2 advantage.

Rumford scored three runs in top of the fifth, but Barrington answered again and finished with the 15-5 victory. 

Argo and Bruneau shared the pitching duties for Barrington. Argo went three innings, scattering two hits while striking out five Rumford batters. Bruneau pitched two innings and struck out four. 

Barrington will play on Sunday against the winner of the Bristol vs. Rumford showdown. The game will be played at Sherwood Field at 5:45 p.m.
