Barrington High School’s number one doubles team of Bryce Kupperman and Gabe Anderson won its second straight state championship last weekend.

The Eagles duo knocked off a doubles team from East Greenwich in the finals, 6-3, 6-2.

Barrington actually had all three of its doubles teams reach the quarterfinals of the state tournament. Kupperman and Anderson defeated a team from North Smithfield, 6-0, 6-0, in the round of 16, and then matched up against their teammates, Justin Kuo and Garrett Meehan in the quarterfinals. Kupperman and Anderson won the match, 6-3, 6-4. (Kuo and Meehan reached the quarters with a three-set win over a North Kingstown team, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.)

Zach Spear and Henry Birbiglia reached the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-0 win over a Mount St. Charles team in the quarterfinals. In the semis, the Barrington team lost to the East Greenwich team, that lost to Anderson and Kupperman in the finals.

In the singles tournament, Barrington’s Luke Sapolsky reached his third straight semifinals. Sapolsky opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over a Cranston East opponent and then won 6-4, 6-2 over a Lincoln High School foe. In the quarterfinals, Sapolsky defeated a player from LaSalle, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.
