The Barrington High School girls lacrosse team lost to Portsmouth 17-12 in the Division I quarterfinal playoff matchup on Thursday, May 23.

Captain Anna Lombardi led the Eagles (6-9 in the regular season)  with three goals, one assist, five caused turnovers and six draw controls. Junior Emily Horn had three goals for the Eagles, while captain Stella Hillier had two goals and one caused turnover.

Lily O'Neil and Ashley DaCosta each scored single goals and tallied assists, while captain Lily Kirk had four ground balls, two caused turnovers and one assist, going coast to coast multiple times against the Patriots. Seniors Emily Ferdenzi and Alex Hope each had a goal for the Eagles. Katie McAdams ended the contest with three saves in goal.

“I believe the girls wanted to win yesterday however we did not play our best lacrosse and therefore were not the victorious team,” wrote BHS Coach Selina Dacey in an email to the Barrington Times.

“As our season comes to an end before we would have wanted, I must give praise to the team for making it through some challenging games while remaining positive. ‘Control the Controllables’ will continue to be my coaching philosophy. Our effort, our attitudes, our grit, our level of competitiveness are all within our control and must remain our focus. We may be done with games this season but we will continue to celebrate our seniors and wish them well on their future endeavors.”
