Owners of the former Zion Bible College property have ordered the demolition of some buildings there. 

According to Barrington Town Manager Jim Cunha, the demolition is beginning with the cafeteria building and continuing with two other structures. Town officials have asked the property owner, ShineHarmony LLC., to board up the windows and doors of the vacant buildings — for years people have been illegally trespassing onto the property and entering the dilapidated structures. There have been fires set on the property, and numerous times police have been called there. 

ShineHarmony LLC officials hired contractors to secure the structures, and also pulled demolition permits for buildings that were deemed unsafe by the town officials. 

For years, the condition of the property has been steadily worsening. Even Belton Court, a building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has fallen into a bad state. 

Town officials have eyed the property as a potential site for senior housing in the future.
