The Barrington High School baseball team bounced back into the win column on Wednesday afternoon, April 17. The Eagles defeated Ponaganset, 10-2, in a Division II showdown at Barrington High School.

The victory improved Barrington’s record to 5-1 in D-II standings and 6-1 overall.

Quinn Murphy hit a two-run homer and Gabe Tanous had a single, double and a triple, which drove in three runs. Murphy also had a single, and Chris Promades had a single and a double and drove in two runs.

Starting pitcher Alex Anderson went five innings on the mound and allowed only one hit and one earned run. Anderson struck out 10 Chieftain batters and did not issue any walks. David Redmond and Connor Marley also pitched in the Eagles’ victory.

On Friday, April 19, Barrington will travel to Westerly for a 1 p.m. game against the Bulldogs.

The Eagles are scheduled to face standout Westerly pitcher Mike Poole. The junior tossed a one-hitter and struck out 18 batters in a 3-1 victory over Chariho earlier this season. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in D-II standings and 5-1 overall. Their lone loss was to Norwich Free Academy in a non-league contest on April 13.
