As a frequent visitor to the athletic fields at the new middle school, I wonder if I am the only resident appalled at the complete lack of a bathroom facility for the numerous athletes and fans who attend baseball and lacrosse games there?

I recently serendipitously bumped into a town council member at a sports event and I asked how this could be? I was told the town council was aware of this and had made a plan to provide a porta potty but then transferred it to another location. But maybe next year this could get done.

I also observed that the new basketball courts have been locked up frequently this spring and was told the Barrington Department of Public Works has an employee who takes it upon himself to lock the courts if he finds trash under the benches at the court as the policy is a "garbage in garbage out policy.”

I suggested the simple provision of a garbage can would be a fair solution to this problem?

Notably there is $4 million dollars in surplus money available from the Barrington Middle School Construction Bond. Barrington is a beautiful town and it is deplorable that simple affordable porta potty services are not available to our residents and our guests from other towns at all of our town parks. I say all of our parks because although Chianese and Sherwood fields have permanent bathroom facilities they are locked almost 100 percent of the time.

Lastly, the new middle school baseball field is top notch! I sure wish someone thought of providing a few bleacher seats for us fans.

Best regards,

John Palmieri
