Letter: This is from an underrepresented minority

To the editor:

I am laboriously writing this letter to you (try typing with webbed feet!) to ask for inclusiveness of opinion for an underrepresented minority of Barrington athletic field users.

Barrington is among the top rated destinations for rest stops for our annual migration from Canada to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We respectfully request that your plans for “upgrades” to Barrington’s athletic fields please include us in your calculations and deliberations. These fields provide nutrients as well as a welcome respite from flying.

We realize that our “honking” and “deposits” on the field may minorly annoy some Barringtonians, but your town’s athletic fields play a huge role in the “cycle of life”. The Duke of Wellington said “the battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton” and we can only speculate what future military hero may say “the battle of  ***** was won on the playing fields of Chianese.”

Admittedly, our needs are not nearly as grandiose as that, but as residents and contributors to the ecosystem, please consider us when weighing artificial turf vs. worm and bug rich sod.
