The eight candidates competing for five seats on the next Bristol Town Council will meet in a live forum tonight, Thursday, Oct. 6. The candidates include all five incumbents (independents Nathan Calouro and Tony Teixeira, Republican Mary Parella and Democrats Aaron Ley and Tim Sweeney) and three challengers — Democrats Andrew Broten and Bethany Sousa Foster and independent Edward Stuart.

The Bristol Council forum will begin at about 7:15 p.m. Preceding it is a similar forum for the two candidates running for Senate District 32, Democrat Pam Lauria and Republican Rhonda Holmes.

Hosted by the League of Women Voters Rhode Island and co-sponsored by East Bay Media Group, publishers of the Bristol Phoenix newspaper, the forum will not have a live audience in-person. It will, however, be live-streamed with support from Roger Williams University volunteers.
