Bristol County Water Authority work will continue through summer

BCWA awarded the 2023 water main rehabilitation Project to W. Walsh Company. The project budget is $2,500,000 and includes construction, traffic control, inspection, and other costs.

Work includes the cleaning and cement-mortar lining of approximately 6,000 feet of cast iron water mains and the installation of 1,250 feet of new ductile iron water mains. Please see the BCWA website (bcwari.com) for more detailed information about each work site and 2023 Water Distribution System Improvement Program.

Ongoing projects
Work on Bradford and Central Streets in downtown Bristol began after the Fourth of July and is anticipated to be complete before school resumes at Colt and Andrews Schools. 1000 feet of 100-year-old cast iron water mains will be cleaned and cement mortar lined, returning these mains to their original capacity. BCWA is coordinating with RI Energy, who will be installing new gas mains in this area, during the same timeframe. The Town will also improve the roadway and sidewalks on south Central Street in August.

Work on Governor Bradford Drive in Barrington involves the replacement of two sections of 2” diameter pipes with new 6” and 8” diameter ductile iron water mains. This work will improve water quality and flow through this neighborhood. Work has started on the western portion of the work, and will proceed to the eastern section soon.
