On Saturday, April 24, 2021, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA )will be holding its 20th National Take-Back event. Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse.  Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold. Unused drugs that are flushed contaminate the water supply. Proper disposal of unused prescription medication saves lives and protects the environment. The Take-back programs are available for the safe disposal of unwanted and expired medication.

The Bristol Police Department will once again be a designated drop-off location for this event. The visitors parking lot at the Bristol Police Department will be set up as a drive-thru drop-off on April 24, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 19th National Take Back event had more than 4,587 collection sites collect 985,392 pounds (492.7 tons) of expired and unwanted medication for safe disposal.
