Gilbert Antone Pacheco, 80, of Bristol

Gilbert Antone Pacheco, 80, of Prospect Street, Bristol, passed away on Sept. 3, 2021, at home. He was the husband of the late Theresa “Joan” (Medeiros) Pacheco.   

Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Jo (Santos) Pacheco. He was the father of Gilbert Pacheco of Warren and Michelle Pacheco of Bristol. He was the brother of the late Adeline Preite, Connie Ferreira, Mary Rego, Joe Pacheco, David Pacheco and Angie Pacheco.

Mr. Pacheco was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and employed by Converse and Raytheon before retiring.

His funeral services were held Sept. 14  from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
