Tap-In needs additional volunteers during the holidays

Posted

Tis the season… for an even greater amount of need across the East Bay.

The all-volunteer organization Tap-In, which helps people in need in Barrington, Warren, Bristol and East Providence, is looking for assistance in specific areas this holiday season.

Tap-In is seeking additional volunteers for the Thanksgiving program, which provides more than 800 families with Thanksgiving food and gift cards for turkeys. The volunteers are needed to man the registration desk at Tap-In’s headquarters (first floor of the Peck Center building), answer phones and manage traffic inside the office.

“In addition, each afternoon, after the noon closing, the organization will need small teams to help pack up food parcels and replenish pantry items,” stated a press release from Tap-In. Additional volunteers are also needed for Tap-In’s Holiday program, which runs Dec. 5 to 23. Last year, more than 750 families participated in the Holiday program.

Anyone interested in helping out at Tap-In should contact volunteer director Summer Sheeley for more information at shsheeley@tap-Inri.org or call 247-1444.

Also, Tap-In is collecting items for the winter season. To help families during the colder months ahead, Tap-In is looking for donations of warm blankets and comforters, and winter coats and boots, for adults and children. All donations are tax-deductible.
