To the editor:
I am writing, I hope not as the only person to do so, to register concern about the 2023 repainted Parade Route Stipe.
Rather than the sharp, brilliant colors of the red, white, and blue of the American flag, the stripe this year has fuzzy edges and is maroon, white, and robin's egg blue.
Some quick research yields the following information on what the colors should be:
• For the U.S. flag, there are specific Pantone colors for the red and blue.
• The red in the flag is PMS 193
• The blue in the flag is PMS 282
The red is pretty traditional, but the blue is a bit surprising for some people because it is navy, not royal.
I certainly hope that this mistake and unfortunate look can be repaired before the 4th.
Thank you for your attention.
