Letter: Like it or not, government fixes things
To the editor:
One has to feel for the citizens of the sunshine state, et.al., who have had their lives ripped apart by hurricane Ian this week.
At the same time you can only feel distain for blowhards like Gov. DeSantis who has tried to endlessly convince those same citizens that big government is not the answer, yet in times of crises call out for help when events warrant.
Like it or not, it is our taxes that pay for all this. It is the feds who have the tools to try to fix the unfixable and make us whole again.
I will be the first to admit that there are many gaps in the performance of big government, but instead of tearing it down, we should be trying to shore it up. It is the only one we have.
