To the editor:
David O’Connell (letters, "Many residents oppose proposed Assembly abortion bill," The Post, March 2, edition) seems to be lumping in all those who have had abortions with Vladimir Putin’s current attempt to wipe Ukraine and the Ukrainian people off the face of the earth.
He does, however, suggest that the Ukrainian children can “at least cry out in protest and try to run from the deadly danger.” How could anyone in good conscience compare the two? Perhaps a heavy dose of Fox News (the ultimate oxymoron) is the reason.
He notes that there is a move in the legislature to allow more citizens to have the state pay for abortions, and many residents oppose this.
While this is true, it should be noted that according to the Pew Research Center 66% of Rhode Islanders think all should have access to abortion services, and we can only assume that those persons have no problem with that proposal.
