Letter: Thank you to Nellie Guerriero

To the editor:

I was so happy and proud of the Bristol Recreation Department when I read the article in last week’s Bristol Phoenix regarding the distinguished awards they received.

Although there are many employees and I realize that all cannot be mentioned, I would like to take this opportunity to mention a staple in the department who coordinates and instructs Zumba with Nellie G. Her name is Nellie Guerriero. Personally, she was a light in a storm. Her encouragement and inspiration helped me to strengthen my being. She devised and helped execute many programs from infants to senior citizens.

During a time when Covid hit our nation, she invited the Zumba community into her home where we not only danced and exercised but was linked to our friends.

After I retired, I joined Zumba which location was a classroom in Byfield School. Now we have this wonderful Community Center.

All the staff are stellar, but I wanted to thank Nellie publicly. You are my hero.
