Harlow Pond, in central Maine, measures approximately 640 acres and is bisected by a causeway of approximately 750 feet in length. A dam contains the pond at its furthest end. Harlow Pond Road extends from a state highway into an area of hills and brooks with farms, woods and wildlife. Just past its causeway, the roadbed changes to gravel and continues for miles.
The Kiki in Warren is a microcosm of what I have just described to you – a fresh-water area with Schoolhouse Road extending from a state highway, hills, a causeway, brooks, farms, wildlife and a road that used to be gravel which continues for miles.

The accompanying photo of part of the Harlow Pond causeway shows a newly-installed 30-inch culvert pipe. A few days previous, a local concern, Bailey Construction, came out in full force for this undertaking: three employees, a pickup truck, a gravel truck, and a backhoe. The job took less than an afternoon.
