When Doug Cavalieri graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 2002, he already had a lot of experience in the building trades. When he was 13 and growing up on Dartmouth Street, a contractor moved in next door — shingling and framing would soon become Doug’s new summer job. So in many ways, by the time he joined the Home Building program at MHHS, he was already bringing real-world skills to the table.
While Cavalieri was in the program, the students built a house in the Bristol Woods neighborhood. He remembers one teacher in particular, a Mr. Spadoni, fondly. “He was a younger teacher, a construction guy,” he said. “He took me under his wing and gave me some special projects. I appreciated him for that.”
After graduation, he spent many years working a number of different jobs in construction for local builders, from framing to finish carpentry, to tile work. In 2013 he went out on his own, as a subcontractor. Then, in 2018, back surgery changed Cavalieri’s trajectory.
A local HouseMaster franchisee that Cavalieri knew heard that he had hurt himself and offered to send him to school to learn the intricacies of home inspection, a booming business in a fast-faced real estate market. He was licensed in 2019, and over the next four-plus years he performed over 2,000 home inspections for HouseMaster, amassing over 150 five-star reviews and even earning a national award as the 2023 Home Inspector of the Year.
Early this year he decided it was time to open his own business, Arrow Home Inspections.
Licensed in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, Arrow Home Inspections provides top-to-bottom inspections that cover all major components of the home. He offers comprehensive, same-day inspection reports, is available 7 days a week, and also offers services including radon, air quality, and mold testing, as well as detecting wood-destroying insects.
“I love what I do,” Cavalieri said. “I’m very well-versed in all aspects of home inspection, and I especially love helping buyers get the information they need to make the best decision for them.”
