Photos: Bristol's second annual Community Night Out

Bristol’s 2023 Community Night Out, the second annual, was held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Town Common. Organized by Sgt. Ricardo Mourato and Ptlm. Brandon Correia of the Bristol Police Department, the event was hosted by Town Administrator Steven Contente, Town Clerk Melissa Cordeiro, the Bristol Town Council, Police Chief Kevin Lynch, and Fire Chief Michael DeMello.

Activities and attractions included a cops vs. kids basketball free throw contest, police/fire equipment displays, dunk tank, DJ Scotty P, Paw Patrol Chase & Marshall, a soccer shoot, a potato sack race, a pie eating contest, a free school backpack giveaway, local race car driver Jacob "Rowdy" Burns and one of his race cars, and complimentary food and drinks, courtesy of local restaurants and vendors.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
