Water authority board approves 4 percent rate hike
BCWA still offers senior citizen discount of $16.06 per quarter
The Bristol County Water Authority board of directors approved a 4 percent rate increase for the fiscal year 2023.
The rate increase went into effect on March 1, meaning that all water used after that date will be delivered at a higher rate.
According to a notice shared with customers, the average residential water bill will rise $2.13 per month, or $25.53 for the year.
“We understand that rate increases of any kind affect our customers’ households and businesses,” stated the notice, which was signed by BCWA Executive Director Stephen Coutu. “This increase enables us to effectively address the current and future needs of our customers and the communities we serve, including the funding of critical capital projects.”
The authority did not make any changes to its miscellaneous fees and charges, and still allows for a senior citizen discount of $16.06 per quarter.
