District schools will hold classes virtually in anticipation of significant snow

EAST PROVIDENCE —  With forecasts predicting somewhere in between 4-6 inches of snow to fall overnight into Tuesday, Feb. 28, city officials have implented a parking ban among other measures in East Providence.

On the school side, Superintendent Dr. Sandra Forand has already canceled in-building attendance. Tuesday, Feb. 28, is scheduled to be a distance learning day with classes taking place virtually.

There is no in-person classes as well for the private schools based in city: Wolf School, Gordon School, St. Mary Academy-Bay View, St. Margaret, Providence Country Day, Ocean State Montessori, Sacred Heart and the R.I. Philharmonic School.

Also of note to residents, trash and recycling collections scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, have been postponed to Wednesday, March 1. The collection schedule for the rest of the week is therefore delayed a day as well.

The parking ban is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday evening, Feb. 27, until further notice.

Kent Heights Field – Clyde Avenue
Sabin Point Playground – Shore Road
Riverside Rec Field – Somerset Avenue
Providence Avenue Playground – Providence Avenue
Rose Larisa Park – Bullocks Point Avenue
Carousel Parking Lot – Crescent View Avenue
Vintner Avenue Playground – Vintner Avenue
Grassy Plain Park – Estrell Drive
Myron Francis School – Bourne Avenue
Martin Middle School – Brown Street
