Townies, next-door neighbor Knights draw non-league outing

Posted

EAST PROVIDENCE — As part of the district's annual "Townie Pride Parade" festivities held last Friday night, Sept. 22, at historic Pierce Stadium, the East Providence High School and Providence Country Day girls' soccer teams played to a 3-3 draw in a non-league contest.

For the host Townies, the result was their first in five games to date on the still young 2023 season. East Providence dropped its initial Division II league outings and two other non-leaguers  as well.

For the next-door neighbor and then still-unbeaten Knights, it was their first draw in five. Marking a substantial step up in class, PCD had won its first four Division IV league outings prior to the date with EPHS.
