Local fencers medal at Worcester Div III foil and epee tournament

Worcester Fencing Club opened its doors to local athletes during the weekend of May 16-17, for a Division III foil and epee tournament. Division III restricts participants to those holding a national rating of “D” or under. Ratings range from “A” to “E,” or “U” for unrated. Bristol’s Aidan White (left), representing the Rhode Island Fencing Academy & Club (RIFAC), located in East Providence, faced the competition, tested his skills, and chased both a top-eight finish and a new national rating. He succeeded on all counts.

Aidan scored an impressive, first place victory in Men’s Epee. He won every bout in pools and advanced smoothly through several rounds of direct elimination, only seriously challenged in the final, gold medal match. With the high-placed finish, Aidan renewed his “D” previously awarded in 2024, a bonus for him and a point of pride for RIFAC.
Also enjoying a successful tournament was Logan Ashley of Barrington (right) who earned a bronze medal in the same event as Aidan.
