Joshua Pavao, the suspect in the shooting/vehicular chase in city December 1, has been arrested on more firearm charges following a separate investigation in Coventry.
Coventry Police Department announced Tuesday, Dec. 5, it had arrested Pavao, 43, on the following charges:
Upon his arrest in East Providence, East Providence Police officers found or recovered several firearms along with some 1,000 rounds of ammunition and other tactical gear.
Pavao is believed to have had some sort of contact with a resident in the house location on Estrelle Drive in Riverside. Confirmed media reports indicated he also had a relationship with a woman who previously lived in Coventry.
Pavao will be held at the Coventry Police Department and arraigned on the charges based there in Kent County District Court on December 6.
Pavao was arraigned on Monday, Dec. 4, in Sixth District Court on the following charges stemming from the events of December 1 in East Providence: 106 counts of Possessing a Large Capacity Feeding Device; 2 counts License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol; Discharge of a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle; Firing in a Compact Area; Eluding an Officer with a Motor Vehicle in a High-Speed Pursuit; Duty to Stop for an Accident Resulting in Injury; Duty to Stop for an Accident with Occupied Vehicle; Vandalism; Obstructing and Officer in Execution of Duty.
His bond was set with a $100,000 surety $100,000. He could be released by posting 10% or $10,000 and with the following conditions: Non-Domestic No Contact Order; Pretrial Services to Monitor; No Trespassing; Surrender of Passport; Surrender of Firearm(s). Pavao's next court appearance for the offenses in East Providence is set for a pre-trial conference March 18, 2024.
