Tiverton middle schoolers spread cheer

Tiverton Middle School's sixth grade band and concert band hosted a holiday concert for the town’s seniors last week, playing Christmas Carols and other holiday favorites at the Tiverton Senior Center in an effort to bring joy and spread the holiday spirit.

“Playing in front of the senior center today was really, really nice, because you could see how happy they were and you could see how much joy it brought to them,” seventh grader Autumn Phillips, who has been playing the clarinet since she was in fifth grade, said. “Playing The Christmas Song is very fun because you can just tell you're happy as you’re playing for other people and you can see how happy they are once you finish.”

“We’re kind of making this another tradition,” said Mike Alves, the middle school band director. “Hopefully it’s going to be an annual thing and we make these connections to the community.”
