Letter: Newport supports suicide prevention barriers

Posted

On behalf of myself and Melissa Cotta, co-founders of Bridging the Gap for Safety and Healing, we commend Newport City Council’s Resolution supporting legislation to erect suicide prevention barriers on the Newport Pell, Jamestown Verrazano, and the Mt. Hope bridges.

We also urge all other coastal communities  to endorse this as well (House Bill 5053 Solomon, Senate Bill 117 DiPalma). It’s time to make hope a reality and suicide from our bridges a thing of the past.
