Portsmouth Police make arrests for assault, DUIs

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Monday, July 22

Madeline Rose Zeek, 29, of 11 Mercy Weeden Court, Jamestown, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, at about 12:20 a.m. Officers pulled Zeek over on West Main Road at Turkey Hill because her vehicle failed to maintain its lane of travel, police said. Zeek was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, police said.

Wednesday, July 24

Trey Richard Farias, 27, of 14 Dexter St., Newport, was charged with DUI, first offense, at about 1:25 p.m. Responding to a 911 caller who wanted police to check the condition of a driver, officers found the vehicle in the area of East Main and Lepes roads, where it was observed to have crossed into the opposite lane of travel, according to police. Richard was also cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test, police said. 

Saturday, July 27

Tiffany J. St. Germain, 49, of 1156 Freeman St., Norton, Mass., was charged with simple assault shortly after 5:35 p.m. Officers responded to Potters Cove, Prudence Island, after a woman said she had been assaulted the previous night, according to police. The victim had significant bruising to her face and nose, and St. Germain admitted to have struck her the night before, police said.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
