PORTSMOUTH — Bumped back up to Division I this year after capturing the D-2 state championship last fall, the Portsmouth High School girls’ varsity soccer team notched a shutout win over Ponaganset on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Ponaganset is in Division II, however, and the Patriots will face some tougher competition after their 2-0 victory against the Chieftains.

The Patriots were scheduled to host La Salle Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 2, before traveling to North Kingstown for a 6:30 p.m. matchup on Friday, Oct. 4. They’re back home on Monday, Oct. 7, for a 6 p.m. game against Cranston West, and will host Smithfield at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.
