Antonino Sousa Chaves, 82, of Bradford Street, Bristol, passed away on Sept. 29, 2021, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maria DosAnjos (Ribeiro) Chaves.

Born in Villa Franca do Campo, St. Michael, Azores, he was son of the late Urbano and Cecilia (deSousa) Chaves. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Francisco Chaves and his wife Edith; Antonio Chaves and his wife Maggie; Virginio Chaves; Norberto Chaves and his wife Sheryl; Margarida Chaves and Almerinda Parrillo and her husband Stephen.

He was the grandfather of Angela Chaves, Christopher Chaves, Jarad Chaves, Leeana Chaves, Emily Chaves, Aubrey Chaves, Crystal Zina, Tiiffany Tatro, Joseph Costa, Stephen Parrillo and great grandfather of Chelsea, Mitchell, Logan, Kayleigh, Carson, Julian, Melody, David and Payton. He was the brother of Manuel Chaves, Esmeralda Parece and the late Jose Chaves.

Mr. Chaves was employed by Pearson Yachts and Cove Haven Marina before retiring.

His funeral services were held Oct. 2 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Jose Rocha at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Maria Ribeiro and Sheryl Chaves. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Almerinda Calouro and the offertory gifts were presented by Crystal Zina and Angela Chaves. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Parrillo, Manny Chaves, Christopher Chaves, Jimmy Medeiros, Joseph Costa, Christopher Santos, Danny Ribeiro and Joe Ribeiro.
