'Artists in the Wild' during Sunday's Warren Walkabout

The month-long celebration of downtown Warren — Warren Walkabout — continues this Sunday, Oct. 22, with special activities involving its many galleries and artist studios, independent shops and boutiques, cafes and eateries and historic sites. Activities are from 12 to 5 p.m., and this week there will be a free trolley circling the district, where the theme will be “Artists in the Wild!”

Specific activities include:

• 12–2 p.m.: Windharp, Warren Baptist Church, 407 Main St (rain location indoors)

• 12-3 p.m.: The Day Drinkers, Chomp Patio, 279 Water St

• 1:30-3:30 p.m.: Atwater-Donnelly Trio, Town Hall, 514 Main Street

• 3-5 p.m.: Bay Swing, Pirate Ship Park, 236 Water St (rain location Chomp Kitchen, 279 Water St.)

• 2-3 p.m.: Meridian, In Your Ear, 28 Market St.

• 1-3 p.m.: Poets will be reading their original poems at a variety of art venues. Visitors will receive poems by Rhode Island poets to take home and share for ongoing enjoyment and inspiration. See them at: Imago gallery, Chamber of Commerce, Made in Warren, Ink Fish Books, and Mudstone.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
