Candidates for General Assembly share their responses

District 32, Senate

Rhonda Holmes (R) — “As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I’ve worked with people from every walk of life. I’ve developed skills to listen, empathize and collaborate with people to find solutions. I’m a compassionate problem solver who focuses on improving quality of life and I will bring that same approach to the legislature.”

Pam Lauria (D) — “Healthcare is my life’s work, serving as a nurse practitioner for 25 years. Understanding the medical and social determinants of healthy individuals and families has informed my volunteer work and advocacy for education, affordable housing, gun-violence prevention, reproductive justice, and the environment. The Senate currently lacks a medical provider’s expertise.”

District 66, House

Jennifer Boylan (D) — “I am a proven, experienced community leader who’s been regularly attending the statehouse for a decade, testifying, advocating, organizing, and building coalitions to pass better laws. I have professional experience as an environmental scientist and with small business. I have real world experience as a parent, elder caregiver, and taxpayer.”

Sam Read (I) — “Running as an Independent in RI is a big step and it starts right here. We need independent voices who will listen to everyone they represent. Politics-as-usual is not working for this state anymore; I will bring a fresh perspective and pave the way for effective government.”

District 67, House

Scott Fuller (R) — “I know that Rhode Island will only thrive when we stop crushing business with taxes and regulations, stop crushing seniors and those on a fixed income with unnecessary high energy costs, taxes and fees and trust parents and families to make decisions best for themselves without government interference or dictates.”

Jason Knight (D) — “I am a proud, strong Democrat. In RI, many Democrats don’t support Democratic values like reproductive freedom and gun violence prevention. I do. This is central to my work. I am also a strong, independent voice in the State House, advocating for local (the bike path bridges) and statewide change.”
