PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Monday, Aug. 5

Joanne Mary MacKnight, 70, of 280 Jepson Lane, was charged with domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery), first offense, at about 10 a.m. The arrest came after officers responded to MacKnight’s home to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance. The victim was a 68-year-old Portsmouth woman, according to police. 

Brian Joseph Kelley, 41, of 1052 East Main Road, Middletown, was charged with driving after his license had been suspended, revoked, or canceled — his fourth and subsequent offense. Kelley was pulled over on East Main Road at Glen Mead Drive at about 5:45 p.m. for speeding, according to police.

Adilson Semedo, 22, of 157 Market St., Brockton, Mass., was charged with consuming alcohol at a park or beach in violation of a town ordinance. Semedo was cited in the area of Railroad Avenue and the Sakonnet River Bridge around 7:10 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 9

Alexis Lynn Hayston, 21, of 67 Mt. Vernon St., Arlington, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, after a motor vehicle stop on West Main Road shortly before 1 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 10

Rafael J. Fernandez, Jr., 33, of 123 Luther Ave., Somerset, was charged with DUI, first offense; and illegal possession of a weapon other than firearms. Fernandez was pulled over on the Sakonnet River Bridge/Route 24 North for two driving infractions at about 7:45 p.m., police said. He was found to be in possession of a four-inch pocket knife, police said. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Sunday, Aug. 11

Steven L. Blanco, 44, of 624 East 600 North St., American Fork, Utah, was charged with DUI, first offense, after being stopped on East Main Road at Immokolee Drive around 2:15 a.m. Blanco was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Gary P. Lewis, Jr., 43, of 47 King Phillip St., was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit at about 5 p.m. While speaking with Lewis following a motor vehicle accident in the area of West Main Road and King Charles Drive, officers said he appeared to be concealing an item, according to police. Officers then noticed a firearm in Lewis’s left pocket, police said. The weapon was a Glock 43X pistol for which Lewis had no permit, according to police.
