Don't know what to do with the kids during the school vacation break?  Audubon is the solution. With plenty of outdoor family programs, Audubon is the place for safe and frosty fun!

Special outdoor programs following COVID-19 safety guidelines are available each day and are free with admission. Registration is not required, but space may be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. Note that schedule is subject to change as programs will be held outdoors and are weather dependent. Rhode Island COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed for all programs. Small groups are led by Audubon naturalists. Family units are encouraged to participate together. Masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks.

Take-home nature crafts will be available for children each day, and if the weather permits there will be a nature story on our covered patio or outdoor pavilion at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. as well as an animal interview at 1:30 p.m.

  The special programs noted below are also available each day at 11 a.m. These programs are recommended for children ages 6+:

  Monday, Dec. 28: Sensory Trail – Rediscover what your five senses are all about! Travel along our sensory trail following prompts to fully experience the nature around you.
Tuesday, Dec. 29: Surviving the Cold! – It’s cold out there! Join Audubon to conduct some experiments and find out how animals survive the winter. 
Wednesday, Dec. 30: Veggie Stamp Printing - Make some unique cards for any occasion using stamps made out of vegetables. (Weather dependent.)
Thursday, Dec. 31: Winter Nature Hike – Bundle up for an invigorating walk around the beautiful refuge before ringing in the New Year!

New hours at Nature Center and Aquarium

The Nature Center and Aquarium is open again to the public Thursdays through Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can learn about capacity-based entry online at www.asri.org.

The Nature Center and Aquarium hours for the Christmas/New Year's Holiday timeframe are as follows:
• Dec. 24-26: Closed
• Dec. 27-30: Open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for school vacation week
• Dec. 31: Open 9:30 a.m. to noon
• Jan. 1: Closed
All Audubon nature trails are open for visitation. 
 
Indoor Audubon public nature programs have been canceled for the remainder of December due to recent COVID-19 guidelines. The Audubon events calendar at www.asri.org  will be updaed as needed to reflect notices or any further cancellations.
